First Of All: An Introduction

Updated: Jun 14, 2021

Hello Everyone!

I am Isaac, the creator of Filtraponics welcoming you!

I greatly appreciate your support and interest in my adventure. I hope to have you all help me create products and materials that you wish you saw in the market. Well, I'm getting a little ahead of myself.

I started with the Filtra Ponic in eighth grade for the annual Invention Convention in which I wanted to create a product that used aquaponics and additional filtration to create a system that could produce protein, greens, and drinkable water. (The idea behind it has adapted but the name stayed basically the same.)

Me and my Filtra Ponic at Ottumwa High School

Then during this past year in my freshman year of college at Iowa State University I began to build my business with the goal to provide educational aquaponics materials to create the sustainers of the future. In layman's terms: I want to help educate the kids who will grow up to help grow and sustain our world for the future of everyone.

Education is the greatest resource that no-one can take away from you. That is why I want to share the knowledge I have gathered over the years through classes, camps, and science centers and share it with others who haven't seen or learned all that I have. What better tool than a hands on system of aquaponics to demonstrate ecology and the balance of an ecosystem.

If you would like to see me talk a little bit more about my story and Filtraponics you can check me out in this video: https://youtu.be/WV7Rlywa_8w?t=1886

(P.S. Check out the other businesses in my cohort!)

Currently I am in the business accelerator program at Iowa State University that you saw the kickoff for in the video above. I am very grateful for the opportunity to increase my knowledge of business and for the opportunity to do my best to change the world.

(If you would like to get to know a little bit more about me check out this article on me from the CyStarter Spotlight Story: https://www.isupjcenter.org/2021/05/cystarters-spotlight-story-filtraponics/, you can also look at this article in the ISU Engineering news: https://news.engineering.iastate.edu/2021/06/02/its-a-cystarters-summer/).

If you want a little sneak peek on what's in the works or has already been done, here's a list:

Please feel free to email me at: filtraponics@gmail.com with any suggestions, comments, or anything. I will try to respond quickly!

Thanks so much for joining me on this journey!
